Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes that keeping his side fit and firing is crucial in the battle for a Champions League place next season.

Spurs are level on points with third placed Arsenal after their win over Swansea, while they are five points clear of Chelsea and Newcastle.

“I never felt we played badly, we were just unlucky,” Redknapp said to Spurs’ official website. “We’re playing well and we had a good week with Chelsea, Bolton and Swansea.

“I’ve been at clubs where the players look like their confidence has gone, but this lot have been fantastic, knocking the ball around in training and I just felt we were playing well and needed a little luck. I never had any doubts.

“The key [this season] is finishing above Chelsea and Newcastle as well. Four teams are scrapping it out and there’s not a lot in it with seven games to go: us and Arsenal level, five points to Chelsea and Newcastle.

“Now we play Saturday and Monday, a long trip up to Sunderland, Norwich at home - two tough games. Everyone will be juggling their resources. It will be the survival of the fittest.”
