Giovani dos Santos will play no part in Mexico’s Olympic football final against Brazil this weekend
Mexico winger Giovani dos Santos has been ruled out of the Olympic football final against Brazil this Saturday due to a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old Spurs star, who has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, was substituted at half time in Mexico’s semi-final clash against Japan.
He was ruled out of contention for the final after subsequent medical tests.
Dos Santos took to Twitter to voice his disappointment, saying: “Very sad, i will miss the final because of a hamstring injury.
“Now I will have to recover and support my teammates on Saturday.”
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
