Brad Friedel believes the new head coach has nothing to prove
Tottenham star Brad Friedel believes that Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas can bounce back from his disappointment at Chelsea.
The Portuguese was sacked by the Blues after nine months in March, with that blamed on a revolt from the senior players but Friedel has been impressed with him so far.
“He has got nothing to prove,” he said. “I’ve been in football for 21 years and I’ve found that there’s no right way or wrong way to be a coach.
“I’m very impressed with him - he seems confident, diligent, organised and professional.
“He wants us to win trophies and the players need to buy into that way of thinking.”
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
