Andre Villas-Boas wants Liverpool star Charlie Adam to apologise for his challenge on Gareth Bale
Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas has called on Liverpool star Charlie Adam to make an apology to Gareth Bale after injuring the Welshman.
The Spurs star has not been seriously injured, much to the relief of the head coach, who considers the matter closed, despite reports that the north Londoners are considering making a complaint to the FA.
“Needless to say, we are extremely relieved Gareth has not been seriously injured,” Villas-Boas said.
“There is previous history between the two players on the challenge that was done I think three years ago.
“Will we take it any further? We are discussing it within the club but in my opinion, the matter is dealt.
“But it would be extremely human for Charlie to come out with an apology. But you can’t force people to say anything and we will have to wait and see.”
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
