Transfer news: Alex Song is reportedly keen to explore his options
Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has refused to deny reports that the Catalan giants are interested in Arsenal’s Alex Song, but was reluctant to give anything away.
Song, 24, excelled in the Gunners midfield last season and Barcelona are rumoured to be plotting a bid lure the Cameroon international to Camp Nou.
But while Vilanova did not rule out his interest in signing Song, he insisted he did not want to disprespect Arsenal by discussing him.
“I don’t like talking about players who are not in our squad,” said Vilanova after Barcelona’s pre-season friendly against Manchester United in Gothenburg yesterday.
“There are many players outside of Barca who I like and I cannot talk about them. It would be a lack of respect to other clubs.”
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
