Theo Walcott expects to renew his Arsenal contract
Theo Walcott has given Arsenal a major lift by revealing he is ready to extend his contract at the Emirates, despite interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.
The England winger is currently touring Asia with the Gunners, and scored in their 2-2 draw with Hong Kong side FC Kitchee this morning.
He is now entering the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract, but says he is relaxed about the situation and thinks it is only a matter of time until he puts pen to paper.
“The club and my agent are talking but it is a slow process and my last contract took six months to agree – but it will come,” said the 23-year-old.
“We’ll see what happens but I am not too bothered about it. I am keen to work with the team just trying to get fit and there is still got a long way to go yet.”
