Emmanuel Adebayor is not ready to return for Tottenham and will miss tomorrow’s home game against Crystal Palace as he recovers from a virus.

The Togo international has been absent since the international break, sitting out the last four games, and Mauricio Pochettino has ruled him out of this weekend’s Premier League clash at White Hart Lane as well.

However, the head coach insists there is no issue between the pair and has dismissed suggestions that the forward may leave the club in January.

“After the international break he came back with a problem with a hamstring and his back, and then he got a virus and today he’s not ready to play,” said Pochettino.

“I spoke with him today in the training session and he still feels weak. Maybe for the next few weeks or the next few games he’s ready to help the team.

“I have a very good relationship with him. I was a player, I understand my players and it’s normal that after the international break he had a problem with his back and hamstring, and it’s not easy to feel the same way as before. Then he got a virus and it’s always difficult to have that and feel ready to play.

“All players that we have in the squad are part of the plans for the future. It’s normal in the media to have a lot of speculation with the players, with the club, with a lot of things. But I don’t comment because I don’t read it.

“My English is still bad, it’s difficult, I need to improve and I am not focusing on reading the media.”

Vlad Chiriches and Kyle Naughton are doubts ahead of tomorrow’s game against Palace, but Danny Rose could return to the squad after missing the last four games with a rib injury.

Meanwhile, Kyle Walker took a step towards his long-awaited first-team return after a pelvic injury with a 67-minute run-out for Spurs’ Under-21s against Manchester City on Monday night.

Pochettino said: “Tomorrow he’ll play with the Under-21s again. He needs to be consistent in every training session and start to compete.

“He played well against Manchester City’s Under-21s but it’s not the same as a training session and then playing.

“He needs to compete and tomorrow is another opportunity to do that - maybe he’ll play more minutes than he played against Manchester City. He’s going the right way and maybe in the next few weeks he’ll be ready to start to come back with the group.”

It has been reported that right-back DeAndre Yedlin, who signed for Spurs in the summer, could make an early move to Tottenham to January.

But Pochettino said: “We still haven’t take any decision still yet. I have no comment about Yedlin because we are focused on this period, a very busy, tough period.

“Yes he’s available but we have confidence in our players. It’s not a moment to start talking about the player and the speculation.”
