Diss must take advantage at home

After the disappointment of the game last Saturday at Staines, Diss must look to put that performance behind them and start picking up points against teams nearer to them in the league, especially at home.

With that in mind, tomorrow’s match against Civil Service at Mackenders takes on added significance.

Diss last played Civil Service back in 2008/2009 when both teams were in the league below. Diss triumphed 28-20 at Civil Service’s ground on the Thames in a game the Blues were not expected to win. The return match was a 19-all draw and was notable for the Mackenders pitch being decorated with scarecrows in response to comments about Diss’ style of play being ‘agricultural’ in that London encounter.

The squad this week is bolstered by the return of Deaglan Hall and Chris Beaird and sees a debut in the squad for Craig Burroughs, a South African number 10 with senior rugby experience.

The Saracens match against London Irish Amateurs has been cancelled, so they are playing a friendly against Bury II. Zac Seward is welcomed back after his long injury lay-off.

The thirds are playing away against Wisbech II.
