CHARLTON Park RFC remain second in London Three South East three after a comprehensive eight-try win over Crawley last Saturday, writes Roe Belcher.
Playing on a heavy pitch, Charlton started well and within the first five minutes flanker Sam Baker opened the scoring with a try.
This try was the precursor for a match that saw Charlton expressing their attacking capabilities at will.
James Hamel showed fine footwork to outstrip the Crawley defence for a second score on 15 minutes.
A further two first-half tries from captain Michael Casizzi and a second for Baker saw Park build an unassailable lead, with Sam Cheffins adding two successful conversions.
Crawley did pull a penalty back before the break, but there was more to come from the visitors in the second period.
Number eight forward Ron Saunderson increased Charlton’s lead with the fifth try of the afternoon, prior to Jake Smith bagging number six. Cheffins added his third conversion of the match.
Will Robertson went over for Park’s seventh and Baker completed a hat-trick with the last score of the match to seal an impressive result.
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
