Feltham-born defender in Team GB squad for Olympic football tournament
Tottenham defender Steven Caulker is relishing the prospect of representing Team GB in the Olympic football tournament.
The Feltham born 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Swansea and his performances impressed manager Stuart Pearce sufficiently to be included in the squad.
“When I was told I was in the initial squad of 35 I just hoped I would get the call,” Caulker told Tottenham’s official site.
“The call came and now it’s a case of getting ready for the Olympics.
“I’m delighted to be part of it and the fact it’s here in Britain means it will be a huge event and something I’ll no doubt look back on for many, many years.”
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
