Manchester United star Ryan Giggs is relishing his first major tournament at the ripe age of 37.

The Welshman, despite his record breaking feats at the Red Devils winning 12 Premier League titles among other trophies, never played in a World Cup or European Championship but is set to line up for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics after he was named as one of three players over the age of 23.

“[I am] really excited,” Giggs told the BBC.

“Coming to London and feeling the buzz around the place for the Olympics, seeing the signs everywhere.

“It’s a massive event and one I am looking forward to.”

Giggs is joined by Liverpool’s Craig Bellamy and Manchester City’s Micah Richards, while the remaining squad members will be announced in early July.
