Hackney’s Anne Keothavong saw her Olympic dream disappear as she, along with partner Elena Baltacha were well beaten in the first round of the women’s doubles competition this evening.

The British duo suffered defeat at the hands of Germany’s Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Gronefeld at the All England Club in Wimbledon, being outplayed throughout the match, going down 6-3, 6-1.

Goerges and Gronefeld now meet Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina of Russia in the second round.

This most recent defeat brings Keothavong’s debut Games to a close, following her singles defeat to Caroline Wozniacki on Saturday.
