We’re going along nicely in two competitions, so I think the t20’s come at a good time – it feels like the stag do’s about to begin.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s the crowd who will be having a few beers – but we’ll be looking to have a bit of fun as well and hopefully be one of the more consistent teams in the competition.

If we can bat like we did on Sunday against Lancashire, we’ll be a force to be reckoned with. It was a brilliant all-round performance and Eoin Morgan and Paul Stirling were absolutely unbelievable.

I was back at Sussex for last year’s t20, in between my loan spells, and it felt a bit strange having to bowl at Stirlo – fortunately he spooned one up for me, otherwise there could have been a bit of carnage that day!

But I’ve been reminding Scotty, the coach, that I did open the bowling quite a bit for Sussex, and it’d be great to get the opportunity to do that again.

The t20 is set up for batsmen, so you’re on a hiding to nothing – if you get pumped no-one really cares and, if you bowl rubbish and pick up a few poles, everyone’s happy.

I’m biased, but I do feel spin’s the way forward in t20 because you’ve got to produce the power yourself, you can’t just use what’s on the ball.

Tom Smith came in and bowled really well on Sunday. If we can bowl together in the t20, that’d be the dream, and Stirlo’s underrated as a bowler as well.

You do often play on used pitches in t20 because they can’t always turn them around quickly enough, which would be another reason to give the spinners a bigger role. But we’ve got several options and everyone will have a part to play.

Hopefully we’ll do better than last year – obviously we don’t want to be propping up the table again. We are a big club and we’re doing well in other disciplines, so we’re looking forward to it.
