Being on the wrong end of such a close game at Durham was gutting, but it’s important not to take any of that negativity over to Uxbridge.
Warwickshire are top of the table and hopefully we’re showing a bit of spirit and giving them a run for their money.
Before the Durham defeat, we were well-placed in the County Championship and, if we can produce a result at Uxbridge, we’re confident we can still put pressure on Warwickshire. We’ve certainly got our eyes on the top half of the table, not the bottom.
We bowled exceptionally well on the first morning at Durham and always looked in control of the game, so it was extremely frustrating to lose from that position.
That rain break on the second day was probably a turning point – our bowlers had been going well but, when we got back out there, Callum Thorp and Scott Borthwick played very positively and smashed it around.
Then we lost a couple of quick wickets and, as soon as that happens, the momentum swings. Take nothing away from Durham – they bowled very well, but maybe we could have approached it a bit more positively.
I know I certainly went out there very cautiously and the trouble with that mindset is that, on such a challenging wicket, there’s always a ball with your name on it just around the corner.
I’ve had a bit of a groin strain over the last week or two, so I’ll be sitting out our 40-over game against Worcestershire on Sunday.
Still, the way Dawid Malan and Chris Rogers have been going I might not have been needed anyway! Rogers has seized his opportunity at the top of the order and the pair of them are striking the ball superbly.
They’ve given us fantastic results in our last couple of games. It’s all very tight at the top of the group, so we just have to keep the run going and see what happens.
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
