Tube bosses are warning of “extremely busy” rush hour chaos at Finsbury Park station for the next seven months as they close the interchange stairwells linking Tube and national rail services.
From Monday the stairs will be closed and commuters will be forced to exit the rail station into Station Place, then enter the Underground station.
The spiral staircases are being upgraded to double their capacity, but will not reopen until the end of March 2014.
Transport for London, which is carrying out the work as part of its Tube Improvement Plan, has warned all passengers using the station that “it will be extremely busy at peak times”, adding: “If you use the Tube, please consider using nearby stations to start your journey. If possible, National Rail customers travelling to central London should change at Highbury & Islington or King’s Cross St Pancras.”
