In all, 15 people living or working in Haringey were named in the Queen’s birthday honours list. The Journal presents a rundown of those recognised:
- Tessa Jowell MP, of Highgate. Made a Dame for political and charitable services;
- Dr Daniel Moynihan, chief executive of the Harris Federation of London Schools and on Downhills primary school’s interim executive board. Made Knights Bachelor for services to education;
- Robin Bosher, director of primary education at the Harris Federation of London Schools and on Downhills primary school’s interim executive board. Made Knights Bachelor for services to education;
- Victoria Heywood, of Muswell Hill, executive director of the Royal Shakespeare Company. CBE for services to drama;
- Professor Irene Leigh OBE, of Highgate. Lately vice principal for research and head of College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, University of Dundee. CBE for services to medicine;
- Jerome Frost, of Stroud Green, former head of design and regeneration at the Olympic Delivery Authority. OBE for services to regeneration;
- Angela Krokou, of Crouch End, chair of Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. OBE for services to mental health;
- Gareth Malone, of Crouch End, choirmaster and broadcaster. OBE for services to music;
- Kwame Kwei-Armah, of Muswell Hill, actor, director, playwright. OBE for services to drama;
- David Beech, of Wood Green, MBE for services to philately;
- Felix Cross, of Bounds Green, artistic director of NITRO. MBE for services to musical theatre;
- Peter Middleton, of Leyton, area controller at Arriva London buses. MBE for services to London’s buses;
- Adam Peirson, of East Finchley, WorldSkills ambassador for cooking and sous chef at Claridges hotel. MBE for services to Skills;
- Richard Sagar, of Bounds Green, WorldSkills ambassador for electrical installation. MBE for services to Skills;
- Nita Bharier, of Southgate, BEM for services to the Jewish community in Enfield, Barnet and Haringey.
