The man was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, with chest injuries after he became trapped following an accident with a van in Colney Hatch Lane, near the Tesco superstore, earlier today.

The location of the accident meant the road had to be closed for a number of hours.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were both called to the scene just before 11am.

Paramedics managed to stabilise the man while he was being released, and he was taken to hospital conscious and breathing.

The man - whose age is not known - is understood to be in a stable condition.

Traffic had returned to normal by 2.45pm.
