Cllr David Browne became the latest live art installation to take the hot seat in the Blink pop-up shop at 142 Crouch Hill, Crouch End, last Thursday.

The vacant property, due to welcome new owners next month, has been rented out to artists and traders to run weekly pop-up shops recently.

Last week, jewellery designer Sue Irwinhunt, 50, of Aubrey Road, ran the Blink shop at the premises, selling her own silverware as well as canvasses and ceramics from two other artists.

The theme of the week-long residence was the seaside with Mrs Irwinhunt inviting a number of guests to sit in a deckchair in the shop’s window, including Cllr Browne.

She said: “He caused quite a stir! People were coming in, other people were taking photos - it was great.

“We’ve had people sleeping in the deckchair, painting their toe nails, sketching and dreaming about the seaside. They’re briefed that they are supposed to feel as though they are at the beach.”
