A man has been taken to hospital after the car he was driving hit a bus stop in Tottenham.

The man - in his 20s - was driving along White Hart Lane when his silver Volkswagen Passat saloon left the road and hit a bus stop, near the junction with the High Road, at 3.40am yesterday.

The car overturned trapping the man, who had to be freed by the emergency services.

He has been taken to a London hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.

No one else was injured in the accident.

Brick Lane Comedy Festival cancelled after opposition from community groups

A comedy festival in east London due to feature acts including Al Murray, Alan Davies and Ed Byrne has been cancelled because of “heavy opposition from local community groups”.
