An 18-year-old man has been charged with murdering Tottenham student Cheryl Tariah, who was found strangled in an east London flat last week.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is due before magistrates today (Monday) to answer a single charge of murder.
Cheryl, 17, of Dunloe Avenue, Tottenham, was found last Tuesday (February 7) in a flat above shops in High Street, Barkingside, shortly after 4pm when police responded to reports of a “disturbance”.
A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as compression of the neck. Her next of kin have been informed.
Cheryl was described as a “bubbly” aspiring fashion designer who was studying at Chelmsford College in Essex.
A statement from the college said its students and staff were “coming together, united in grief” over the death of a “lovely bubbly girl”.
