London Olympics figurehead Sebastian Coe found himself ambushed by a complete stranger, last week.
But the Games chief for Britain was not taken to task for the G4S security shambles, nor forced to hear complaints over heavy handed protection of prized sponsorship deals.
Instead, an official on the women’s basketball team from Angola accosted Lord Coe – to hail the food served up to athletes.
“I had never met them before, but they came up and hugged me and said ‘for the first time we have got African food, proper African food’. Those are things that matter to me,” he recounted.
“We will have created the best environment for athletes, and I was really gratified to be on the Park last week and talking to team officials and people whose judgement I really value saying this is the best Village we have been to,” Lord Coe told the Press Association.
