If you see a chicken crossing the road, it could be North Harringay Primary School’s missing pet- and they are desperate for her return.
The grey bird, named Primary, escaped sometime between 6.30 and 7.30am this morning, when the chickens are let out of their hen house. It is suspected she jumped the metre-high fence that encloses the four birds and wandered off.
Primary is one of four pet hens - the others are called North, Harringay and School- who came to the nursery class as chicks in June. The three and four year old pupils help feed and water them, and enjoy looking at their eggs.
Maida Najafi, nursery nurse at the school, is leading the hunt for the hen. She scoured the school and surrounding roads during breaks today and will continue the search into the evening.
She said: “I’ve looked in every cupboard, every bin, I’ve knocked on doors- but nothing. I just really hope I find her tonight.”
If you spot a grey chicken or any clues to her whereabouts, contact the school on 0208 3480948.
