The teenagers will lead a parade that promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Lauren, a pupil at Broomfield School in Palmers Green, is in her second year as Hornsey Carnival Queen and was also crowned National Carnival Queen last year.

Paris, also from Broomfield School and Elijaye, a pupil at Westminster School, were crowned for the first time this year.

Gordon Rathbone, carnival chair, said that the girls are enjoying their busy roles, which involve attending events almost every week for the next year.

He added: “It’s a real confidence-builder and past queens and princesses have said that it made a big difference to them.”

A stellar line-up featuring professional musicians and dancers will surprise and delight attendees of this year’s carnival, which organisers have said will be “an extravaganza”.

The carnival will take place on July 7 in Crouch End, Hornsey and Priory Park.
