Young people from Haringey are celebrating after getting themselves what are arguably the most sought-after summer jobs in London.
About 100 people secured jobs at the Olympic site in July after attending a final interview at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, following a North London Citizenship sifting and selection event at the same venue.
Former college student Hani Gue, who completed his public services level three at the college last year, and Melike Yegin, who is currently studying hairdressing, sailed through their interviews and secured jobs at the 2012 Games.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Melike. “It’s something that I can tell my children and grandchildren about.”
The successful candidates - who all now have guaranteed four-week jobs in either retail or catering will - join 1,200 other young people who got jobs on the Olympic site after North London Citizens set up the recruitment project.
