Tottenham college students are being given the chance to appear in Britain’s next big urban comedy film this week.

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London has been transformed into a film set for the Mirror Mirror production ‘It’s a Lot’, with many of the Tottenham campus’s students taking on roles as extras, and working alongside the cast and crew over the next four days.

Media student Ngozi Ikwke, one of twenty Level 3 creative media students who are working as runners gaining the experience and skills they need for a future in the industry, said: “This has surpassed all my expectations. We are learning so much and they are really taking time out to tell us why and how things work.”

Fellow student Jame Pierre Yepez added: “The thing that I’ve noticed most is how we are all working together. Whether you’re a runner or director, everyone chips in and makes it work. It’s a real team effort.”

Five theatrical make-up and hairdressing students are working as part of make-up and wardrobe gaining experience working with high profile actors and actresses.

Shani Levy-Galloway said: “I volunteered as it’s a good opportunity to work on a real set, plus I’m also an actress so it’s good to be in this type of environment.”

As well as having their names on the end credits, students are working with the production team, including writer and star Femi Oyeniran, who appeared in the films Kidulthood, Adulthood and Anuvahood, director Darwood Grace and producer Dean Fisher, who are providing them with invaluable insight into the world of feature films.

Principal and chief executive Paul Head, said: “This is a perfect opportunity for students. As a vocational college, our aim is to make sure students are ready for work and have as much experience as possible, which is why we are delighted to have the crew here providing students with what they need to have a career in the media industry.”
