A Tottenham teenager who was caught after leaving a blood-covered mobile phone at the scene of a burglary has been sent to a young offenders’ institution.

Jamel Collymore, 19, from Ermine Road, South Tottenham, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary at Wood Green Crown Court, after leaving a trail of evidence behind him at different crime scenes.

He was sentenced at the same court to three years and four months detention in a young offenders’ institution, having carried out a series of burglaries in Overbury Road, Keston Road and Reform Road in the Tottenham area last summer.

Another mobile phone found near the scene of a burglary in Keston Road led police to Collymore, as did a bottle left behind at the scene of a burglary in Reform Road.

PC Mark Mullery of Haringey Police said: “Collymore is a prolific burglar and through his offending caused his victims a great deal of distress.

“This sentence will ensure our communities are protected from further offending by him.”
