A schoolboy was stabbed through the heart in broad daylight when a fight broke out over a man staring at a young girl, a court heard.

Park View School pupil Kasey Gordon, 15, suffered the fatal knife wound during a scuffle with paranoid schizophrenic Serif Aslan just yards from his school gates, jurors at the Old Bailey were told.

Aslan, now 34, had a tendency to stare at women and was banned from possessing a knife in his care home, jurors were told today.

But shortly before 3.45pm on January 20 last year he left the home carrying a £1.49 kitchen knife wrapped in tissue paper and walked towards a cafe in West Green Road, South Tottenham.

Prosecutor Richard Horwell QC said the incident began when Aslan stared at a young schoolgirl and said, “Oh, she is very beautiful,” causing her 16-year-old boyfriend to step in.

Aslan swore at the boy, also a Park View pupil, who punched Aslan, leading to a 30-second fight which Kasey joined along with two other boys.

Kasey was stabbed in the heart, the 16-year-old was stabbed in the chest, one 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the hip and the fourth boy escaped with minor cuts to the face and hand.

When it ended Aslan walked calmly to a nearby cafe. He was arrested in the toilets and police found the knife hidden up his jacket sleeve, with the tissue in the cistern, it was said.

Dozens of witnesses, including fellow pupils at the school, saw the attack which was also captured on CCTV - proving Aslan “was an aggressor and not a victim as he later claimed” said Mr Horwell.

He added: “It is more than likely Kasey Gordon did not see that knife and his inability to see that knife and what the defendant was doing with it probably cost Kasey Gordon his life.”

The court heard Aslan has an “established history” of paranoid schizophrenia and a mild learning disability.

Aslan, of Philip Lane, South Tottenham, denies murder, two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and one of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The trial continues.
