Tom Le Feuvre, 18, of The Avenue, was the first success story of the day for Alexandra Park School, picking up A*s in maths and further maths, as well as an A* in chemistry and an A in physics.

The teenager, who is also a talented pianist, will now commence a maths degree at Cambridge University’s Emanuel College in September.

Year 12 pupil Emma Copley, of Windermere Road, went one better and secured a maths A-level a year early, arriving at the Rhodes Avenue school this morning to find she was also the recipient of the coveted A*.

Receiving As in her chemistry, biology and physics AS levels as well, Emma told the Journal: “This is the biggest shock of my life for sure! I haven’t slept for two weeks. I’m not good with stress, I got quite ill during exam period but obviously it worked!

“I’m feeling utter relief but I’ve still got another year left - I can enjoy the next two weeks at least.”

Alexandra Park enjoyed a 1 per cent rise in A* to C exam passes this year, recording a A* to C pass rate of almost 79pc overall.

Jonathan Lister, Year 13 director of studies at Alexandra Park, said: “I’m delighted by the outstanding results of our Year 13 students again this year, proving Alexandra Park School’s inclusive approach ensures success for all.”
