All the 2012 Games venues in east London have been completed on time and under budget, according to the Olympic Delivery Authority’s annual report today.

Work on the last major venue, the Aquatics Centre, was finished a year ago, while the athletes’ village was completed in January when it was handed over to the 2012 organising committee.

ODA chairman Sir John Armitt said: “The venues were built with long-term use and sustainability in mind, which leave an impact that transforms this part of east London.

“They will be seen in billions of homes across the world during the Games and are a triumph for the 46,000 workers who built the Olympic Park.”

The Delivery authority converts the Olympic Village after the Games to be occupied by families, with kitchens added and partitions removed. The complex becomes East Village with its own ‘E20’ postcode next year.
