Bingo caller aims to make X-Factor dreams a reality

THE caller at Wood Green's Mecca Bingo is facing the daunting task of calling a different number - by singing in front of scary X-Factor judge Simon Cowell.
Ricky Denton has made it through to the last 200 of this year's X-Factor and says he cannot wait to strut his stuff for a place in the finals of the hit TV show.
The 47-year-old said: "I love my job at Mecca but feel I've been waiting all my life for this opportunity to prove that I can be up there with the best, so you can bet your boots that I'll be giving it my all."
Ricky is the main stage caller at Mecca Bingo, in Lordship Lane, and is seen by members as a true showman who commands the stage.
But the born entertainer insists appearing at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday was the toughest call he's ever had to make.
Cliff Richard and Elvis Presley are listed among his inspirations which, he hints, might give a clue as to what song he will choose to try and make it through to boot camp in the over 40s group of this year's X-Factor.
