Diagonal crossing plans go on show

A MODERN slice of Oxford Circus has appeared in the heart of Wood Green - a diagonal pedestrian crossing.
The new crossing, which mimics the recently-installed diagonal paths across Oxford Circus in central London, will help shoppers get to and from the Tube station towards Morrisons supermarket.
The £400,000 crossing was given the go-ahead after Transport for London put up the money.
The junction will also benefit from advanced stop lines painted on the roads for cyclists, improved lighting, new pavement and more parking for cyclists and taxis.
The work will take four months to complete, starting this month.
A public exhibition on the proposals will be held today (Thursday) in the Gallery at Wood Green Library, from 5pm to 8pm. Councillor John Bevan, cabinet member for housing, environment and conservation, said: "This crossing will help residents and commuters. I urge anyone with concerns to visit the library where officers will be on hand to deal with queries.
